VIRTUES
ERNEST HARRIS JR.

December 8th - December 23, 2006
Opening Reception: Friday, December 8th, 7:30 - 10:00 pm

Made entirely out of Lego building blocks, Ernest Harris Jr.'s latest drawings (or sculptures depending on your POV) attempt to illustrate a collection of virtues using only common computer toolbar and interface icons.

Born in Grenada, raised in Canada, Ernest Harris Jr. has enjoyed a few claims to fame as an extra in the holiday classic A Christmas Story, and as one of the Ramboys featured on CBCs Adrienne Clarkson Presents documentary on Evergon - the result of a stint as one of the photographers models. Recently, his art has snuck its way into popular media by way of music videos, opening credits and commercials. Be it paintings, comics, sculptures or photographs, Harris Jr. hot-wires pop culture imagery to reveal paradoxes, disconnects, and resonances embedded in social constructs and cultural assumptions.
