José Armando Sabiana Medina

José Armando Medina Sanabia was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba in 1977. He graduated from José Joaquín Tejada Academy of Arts with the best Academic File in the specialty of Printmaking and Drawing in the year 1996. He has a Bachelor of Education of Visual Arts from the Frank País Garcia Higher Pedagogical Institute in Santiago de Cuba. His experience in the teaching of printmaking allowed him to become the Head of the Print Board of the Academy of Arts in Santiago de Cuba since 2000. He has been given more that 20 honours and awards, and has participated in over 90 exhibitions, including solo and group shows in the United States, England, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. José received the decoration Guest of Honour of Santa Marta City, Colombia in 1997. His work has been permanently exhibited in the Museum Bolivariano of Contemporary Art of Santa Marta, Colombia, and Plains Art Museum, Fargo, North Dakota, USA since 1997 and 2007 respectively. Jose Medina has specialized in collograph, a print technique that he learned from the first Print Masters that introduced it in Cuba. He has been a practicing visual artist and teacher at the Luis Diaz Oduardo Cultural Workshop and the José Joaquín Tejada Academy of Arts in Santiago de Cuba for more than 10 years, and he became a member of the CRAM Collective in 2009 and is now the CRAM Press Print Master.
